Fake virus alerts and browser pop-ups
Not every alarming security message is a genuine system warning.
1. Recognize warning signs
Unexpected full-screen alerts, countdowns, phone numbers or remote-access requests can be warning signs.
2. Do not call displayed numbers
Browser pop-ups can show numbers unrelated to your manufacturer.
3. Close the browser safely
Use normal browser controls or Task Manager rather than suspicious buttons inside the alert.
4. Review permissions
Check notification permissions and remove access granted to unfamiliar websites.
Safety reminder: Never provide passwords, payment details or remote access to an unknown person responding to a browser warning.
